We chose to become educators because we believe in a more just society. We believe every child can learn. We believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe in the importance of having a voice, supporting an opinion, and speaking truths. We believe in critical thought and questioning authority. And yet we are being silenced and demonized and terminated from our positions for exercising our rights under the constitution. We are being accused of indoctrinating our charges if we dare expose systemic injustice, historic atrocities, current hypocrisies, scientific truths, or constitutional infringements. We will not and should not be silenced. I intend for this to be place for those important converations without the fear that silences us.
